The Yuri on Ice franchise has gone back into winter hibernation once again after MAPPA announced today that the movie sequel announced back in 2017 has been officially canceled, with fans furious at being strung along for seven years.
The movie’s cancellation, announced on Twitter today, means that hopes have been dashed for the fujoshi fans who helped found a major part of MAPPA’s then-niche fanbase.
While the studio has since moved on to major productions like Attack on Titan and Jujutsu Kaisen at a frantic breakneck pace, scant information has been released for the movie since the 2017 announcement, with the Tokyo Olympics tie-in teaser being the only remaining thing of this project to have been released.
The next fans who will likely be worried about their favorite franchise’s future are Zombie Land Saga fans, who have a movie announced in 2021 with no news since then.
Was anything of value lost here?
Absolutely not.
That’s not really for us to say. If I was a fan of something that got cancelled, I certainly wouldn’t want to hear that.
There’s also an element of betrayal with the whole stringing the fans along thing and abandoning a part of your fanbase that helped you in hard times.
Nah you’re gay
Just say you’re a closet gay and move on.
They can fucking cry about it. 7 years waiting for the next season of Youjo Senki is the real tragedy.
It really is, I still think about it from time to time.
GOOD FUCKING RIDDANCE! f♥♥k OFF GAY SHITS!
As a heterosexual male this had no appeal to me anyway.
There’s no such thing as “heterosexual”, there’s just normal and mental illness, or not normal if you want to be nice.
Yeah… ‘creampie is a fetish’
It’s normal human reproduction, albeit a bit sensationalized.
Haa.. GAYYS
